Man in critical condition after Pernera sea accident now stable in hospital

A 48-year-old man who was critically injured in a sea accident in Pernera, Paralimni, on August 15 has now been stabilized and transferred to the neurosurgical department at Nicosia General Hospital. His seven-year-old daughter, also injured in the collision and initially hospitalized at Makarios Hospital, has since been discharged.

The accident occurred when a jet ski, driven by a 17-year-old without a license and carrying an 18-year-old passenger, collided with a towed inflatable tube carrying five family members. The incident caused serious injuries to the 48-year-old man and his young daughter, with the investigation ongoing to determine the circumstances surrounding the collision.

Authorities, including the Famagusta Police and the Deputy Ministry of Shipping, are examining factors such as the speed and mechanical condition of the vessels. Statements have been collected and no decisions on prosecution have yet been made as investigative work continues.
