Eurobank Donates School Supplies to Greek Cypriot and Maronite Children in Northern Cyprus
Eurobank has donated school supplies to Greek Cypriot and Maronite children attending schools in northern Cyprus, according to the Pancyprian volunteerism coordinating council. Elias Demetriou, chairman of the council, expressed deep gratitude towards the children and their families, likening their resilience to that of Spartans at the Battle of Thermopylae. He emphasized the council's commitment to support the children and contribute towards a better future.
Since his election as Turkish Cypriot leader, Tufan Erhurman has pledged to enhance conditions for Greek Cypriot and Maronite schools in the north, highlighting the importance of education rights. Erhurman stated that improvements will be made regardless of reciprocal actions from the Greek Cypriot side, while also urging the Republic of Cyprus to permit the opening of a Turkish language school in Limassol.
In February, Erhurman visited the Rizokarpaso Greek Cypriot middle school, engaging with both pupils and teachers, reaffirming his dedication to ensuring educational opportunities for all children in the region.
