SafeIsland CY app launches in Cyprus to enhance wildfire reporting and alerts

SafeIsland CY, a new free mobile app for iOS and Android, is now available to help residents in Cyprus report signs of wildfires, receive nearby alerts, and access fire-safety information via an interactive map. Developed by Brickworks Games as part of the TechIsland Wildfire Initiative, the app aims to improve early awareness and community response during wildfire risk periods.

The app allows users, especially those in rural and high-risk areas, to submit local reports of smoke or fire by placing pins on a live map, adding photos and descriptions. It is designed to complement emergency services by sharing timely, verified local observations to help communities stay better informed. The pilot phase involves collaboration with Kitas Weather, who will support platform administration and update verification.

SafeIsland CY prioritizes user privacy, using location data only when reports are submitted and focusing on incident details rather than personal information. Citizens are encouraged to download the app, enable notifications, and familiarize themselves with its features to contribute to faster, more responsible sharing of wildfire-related information across Cyprus.
