Limassol municipality unveils €5.6 million fleet renewal to enhance cleaning and municipal services
Limassol municipality has revealed a new cleaning fleet as part of a €5.6 million modernisation programme aimed at upgrading its vehicles and equipment to improve public services. The initiative, running from July 2024 to July 2026, includes 22 contracts for 70 new vehicles and machinery, with 35 already delivered and the rest expected by 2027.
Mayor Yiannis Armeftis highlighted the focus on cleaning services, with the addition of street sweepers, waste collection vehicles, and beach-cleaning machines. Among the new deliveries are four self-propelled street sweepers (one donated by XM) and electric pedestrian-operated sweepers. The municipality also plans to introduce refuse trucks and technical service vehicles to reduce maintenance costs and increase reliability.
In addition to cleaning equipment, Limassol municipality has provided a fully equipped fire engine to support local communities affected by past wildfires, funded partly by public donations and municipal resources.
