Association of Cyprus Banks expands financial literacy programmes amid strong 2025 economic growth

The Association of Cyprus Banks (ACB) intensified its financial literacy initiatives throughout 2025 and early 2026, supporting Cyprus' efforts to enhance financial education amid notable economic expansion. Cyprus experienced real GDP growth of approximately 3.5% in 2025, driven primarily by the services sector, with unemployment dropping to historically low levels. This economic momentum was accompanied by challenges like labor shortages and housing affordability concerns.

ACB's programmes, including “More than Money” for secondary students and “Economics for Success” for young adults, aim to provide practical financial skills covering budgeting, saving, and responsible borrowing. These efforts complement the National Strategy for Financial Literacy coordinated by the Cyprus Financial Literacy and Education Committee and align with broader European objectives.

The association emphasized that coordinated financial education combined with responsible fiscal policies and investments supports Cyprus’ economic resilience. However, ongoing challenges such as migration trends, labor market pressures, and housing costs require continued policy attention to sustain socioeconomic stability.
