Cyprus Tourism Shows Signs of Recovery with Limited July Decline
Cyprus’s tourism sector is exhibiting signs of recovery following the March drone incident at the Akrotiri base, with the negative impact now largely contained. In July, tourist arrivals fell by only 1.1 percent, with 582,754 visitors compared to 589,116 in the same month last year.
However, for the period from January to July, Cyprus recorded an 8 percent decline in tourist numbers, with 204,640 fewer visitors than the corresponding period last year. The United Kingdom remains the largest source of tourists, followed by Israel, with these two countries accounting for more than half of all arrivals.
Deputy Minister of Tourism Costas Koumis highlighted that the arrival figures demonstrate the resilience of Cyprus's tourism sector, describing the destination as undeniably full of life despite recent challenges.
