All eligible farmers compensated for foot-and-mouth livestock culling, authorities confirm

The Director of Veterinary Services, Christodoulos Pipis, confirmed that all farmers entitled to compensation for the culling of livestock due to foot-and-mouth disease have received their payments. While a farmers' group claimed some compensation was still outstanding, Mr. Pipis clarified that only three owners of four holdings were not compensated because their cases could not proceed.

Concerns about delays in restarting farm operations were addressed by Mr. Pipis, who described the four-to-five month delay as reasonable given the necessary procedures. He also indicated that the process for affected farmers to resume their activities is expected to start around the end of September, aiming to restore normalcy for those impacted by the outbreak.
