Faros beach in Pervolia plagued by abandoned restaurant turning area into garbage dump
The Faros beach initiative group has condemned the continued presence of an abandoned restaurant at Faros beach in Pervolia, describing the area as a "garbage dump." They report that instead of being demolished as required, the premises remain and are polluting the environment with piles of sunbeds, chairs, trash bins, pallets, and other debris scattered throughout the beach.
Despite repeated notifications to the municipality and relevant authorities, the problem has not been addressed. The group insists the situation is deliberate and calls for urgent action. The issue came to public attention earlier this year when the district administration urged the community council to demolish illegal structures and comply with the approved beach use plan.
The initiative group is appealing to the media and public to apply pressure for the immediate cleanup to prevent further environmental damage, warning that without intervention, Faros beach faces irreversible degradation.
