Woman charged with killing husband in Yerolakkos to undergo psychiatric evaluation
A 49-year-old woman accused of fatally stabbing her husband 30 times in their Yerolakkos home appeared in a northern Nicosia court on Wednesday. The autopsy confirmed the cause of death, and authorities have collected 20 witness statements since Saturday night's incident. Security camera footage from the area is also being reviewed as part of the ongoing investigation.
The court learned that the accused woman is currently undergoing psychiatric treatment and will be transferred to Baris psychiatric hospital in northern Nicosia for a formal evaluation to determine her fitness to stand trial. Her lawyer confirmed her ongoing treatment during the hearing. The court ordered that she remain in custody for an additional eight days while the police continue their inquiries into the case.
