Clean Shipping Alliance and Marine Fuels Alliance partner to advance emissions reduction and alternative fuels in maritime industry

The Clean Shipping Alliance (CSA) and the Marine Fuels Alliance (MFA) have signed a memorandum of understanding to support the shipping and bunker sectors in meeting emissions regulations and transitioning to alternative fuels. This partnership combines CSA’s expertise in exhaust gas cleaning and marine environmental technology with MFA’s broad network across the marine fuel supply chain.

The collaboration will involve sharing technical data, coordinating regulatory advocacy, and facilitating dialogue between technology providers, fuel suppliers, and ship operators. The agreements also include joint efforts on MARPOL compliance, fleet modernization, fuel quality standards, and operational guidance.

The MoU carries a Cyprus connection through CSA executive director Andreas Chrysostomou, who emphasized the need for integrated communication and complementary expertise to develop environmentally effective and realistic solutions. The partnership will initially last two years, with regular reviews and joint initiatives planned to help the maritime industry achieve a sustainable and compliant future.
