Fire at bakery in Aradippou industrial zone quickly controlled by firefighters
A fire broke out Tuesday evening at a bakery located in Aradippou’s industrial zone, prompting a swift response from the Fire Service. The blaze, which started inside the premises with no workers present, was brought under control within 30 minutes by five fire engines, a telescopic platform vehicle, and the Cyprus Mobile Fire and Rescue Unit. Extensive damage was caused to the building and part of its contents, but no injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire remains unknown as authorities await approval to enter the site for investigation. A civil engineer from the Department of Labour Inspection will first assess the structural safety of the premises before the Fire Service continues their inquiry. Police are currently guarding the scene to preserve evidence and ensure safety.
This recent fire echoes the major June 29 blaze in the same industrial area that threatened multiple factories. Fire crews’ rapid action prevented the situation from escalating this time around.
