Cyprus reiterates strong support for Ukraine on its 35th Independence Day

Cyprus has reaffirmed its steadfast support for Ukraine on the occasion of the country’s 35th anniversary of independence. The Cypriot Foreign Ministry extended congratulations to Ukraine, declaring that "Cyprus stands by Ukraine" in a message shared on social media. This statement highlights Cyprus' ongoing commitment to Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Over the past year, Cyprus has taken active steps to support Ukraine. In June, Ukraine's Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha acknowledged Cyprus for leading efforts to advance Ukraine’s EU accession process during its EU Council presidency. Additionally, in April, Cyprus’ Finance Minister Makis Keravnos underscored the island nation’s efforts in securing the release of €90 billion in EU loans, vital for addressing Ukraine’s urgent budgetary needs.

President Nikos Christodoulides and Foreign Minister Constantinos Kombos have both publicly emphasized Cyprus' unwavering support, with particular recognition of the shared experience of occupation, strengthening the bond between the two countries.
