18-Year-Old Arrested in Famagusta for Possession and Circulation of Counterfeit €50 Banknotes

An 18-year-old male has been arrested in Famagusta over allegations of possessing and circulating counterfeit €50 banknotes. Police acted on a tip-off about two €50 notes sharing the same serial number, which were recovered from a local business employee. Further investigation led to the suspect, found with two additional identical notes.

A subsequent search of the suspect's hotel room uncovered another 19 counterfeit €50 notes with matching serial numbers, all seized by authorities. The suspect is scheduled to appear before the Famagusta district court in Paralimni later Tuesday. Police continue their investigation into the counterfeit currency operation.
