Cyprus to experience temporary temperature drop and isolated storms on Saturday
Cyprus will see a significant drop in temperatures accompanied by local rain and possibly isolated storms on Saturday, according to Meteorological Officer Matthaios Papadakis. This change in weather is due to an upper-atmosphere trough arriving earlier than usual, shifting skies from partly to mostly cloudy. The temperature dip will be temporary and limited to Saturday, with values falling below seasonal norms before rebounding.
Currently, Cyprus is experiencing mostly clear conditions with some cloud buildup over the mountains, where isolated rain is possible. Temperatures remain above average for this time of year, reaching around 39 degrees inland and slightly cooler along the coasts and mountainous regions.
Papadakis also addressed the ongoing drought in Europe, noting that while El Niño’s development and impact on the upcoming autumn and winter remain uncertain, Cyprus is expected to have a year similar to previous ones. He emphasized the need for rain to alleviate drought conditions, expressing hope for precipitation in the near future.
