ELAM demands cancellation of Zamna festival and Barcelona football camp in occupied Nicosia
ELAM has called for the cancellation of the Zamna music festival and a football training camp organised by a Barcelona-based academy, both planned to take place in the occupied areas of Nicosia. The far-right party labelled the events "unthinkable" and expressed strong opposition to sporting and cultural activities being held in the occupied territories.
The Zamna festival is scheduled for 10 October 2026, while the training camp organiser is linked to a major football academy in Spain, an EU member state. ELAM urged the Spanish government to intervene in order to cancel the training camp and called on the Cyprus Foreign Ministry to prevent both events from proceeding.
Additionally, ELAM claimed credit for the cancellation of the Nexus festival, suggesting its activism influenced that outcome. The party continues to emphasise the importance of rejecting international events in the occupied northern areas of Cyprus.
