Man Arrested at Larnaca Airport Over €6,800 Online Bank Fraud in Paphos
Police have arrested a 28-year-old man at Larnaca airport in connection with an online fraud case involving the theft of more than €6,800 from a 49-year-old victim. The victim had reported to Paphos CID that he received a call in February from an individual claiming to be from his online bank, warning him of attempted unauthorized access to his account and requesting his banking details.
After providing the requested information, the victim later found that funds were withdrawn from two of his accounts. Authorities issued an arrest warrant for the suspect, who was apprehended while attempting to leave Cyprus. He appeared before Paphos District Court and was remanded in custody for five days.
The Financial Crime Investigation Office of Paphos CID continues to investigate the case to uncover any further developments or accomplices involved in the fraud.
