Cyprus patients advised to trust doctors over AI for medical diagnoses
The head of Cyprus's leading patients' organisation has urged caution in relying on artificial intelligence for medical diagnoses. Miltos Miltiadous, President of the Federation of Patients’ Associations (OSAK), noted that though no formal complaints have been received, many patients increasingly turn to AI or the internet for health information. He stressed that a patient's family doctor remains the most reliable source for evaluating symptoms.
Petros Agathangelou, President of the Cyprus Medical Association, shared similar concerns within the medical community. He highlighted ongoing discussions about how AI could be integrated responsibly as a support tool in clinical practice. Additionally, he emphasized the importance of providing healthcare professionals with proper training to effectively use artificial intelligence in medicine.
