Minister urges football clubs to join Social Insurance debt repayment scheme before September deadline

The Minister of Labour, Marinos Mousiouttas, has called on football clubs to enrol in a repayment scheme for overdue Social Insurance Fund contributions. The scheme, which allows clubs to settle outstanding debts in 54 instalments while staying current with ongoing payments, remains open until mid-September. Currently, football clubs owe a total of €9.5 million to the Social Insurance Fund.

Mr. Mousiouttas emphasized the legal obligation for all clubs to pay their contributions and maintain compliance with social insurance regulations. He noted that around 1,500 applications have been submitted so far but warned that this opportunity is unlikely to be offered again. The Minister reiterated the importance of settling debts promptly to avoid further financial and legal consequences.
