16 Arrests Made During Extensive Nationwide Police Operations in Cyprus
The Cyprus Police conducted extensive organized patrols across urban areas last night aimed at preventing serious crimes and ensuring public order. These proactive efforts resulted in 16 arrests for various offenses including illegal drug possession, illegal stay in the Republic, assault against an officer, and carrying a knife.
During the operations, 662 vehicles were stopped and 865 individuals checked, alongside 60 premises inspections which led to five complaints. Traffic enforcement was also robust, with 380 traffic violation reports issued, including 131 speeding tickets, and 16 vehicles impounded. Alcohol checks yielded 15 violations out of 101 tests, and four positive results were recorded from six preliminary drug tests.
The police emphasize that such crime prevention and enforcement operations continue daily with increased presence and targeted controls to enhance public safety and maintain public order throughout Cyprus.
