Mobile phone charger fire causes extensive damage to child's bedroom in Deryneia
A fire broke out early Sunday morning in a child's bedroom in Deryneia, causing extensive damage but no injuries. The blaze started around 3:40 a.m. when a mobile phone left on the bed while charging ignited, according to fire service spokesman Andreas Kettis.
The child noticed the fire and quickly exited the room to alert the parents, allowing the family to evacuate safely. While the bedroom suffered severe fire and heat damage, the rest of the upper floor was also affected.
Two fire engines responded promptly and extinguished the fire. The fire service confirmed the cause was related to the mobile phone and its charger.
