16-year-old missing in Avakas Gorge found safe after night search
A 16-year-old boy of Russian origin reported missing in Avakas Gorge was found safe and uninjured after a late-night search operation. The search began at 10:40 pm on Saturday following a report from a 36-year-old man who lost track of the teenager during a visit to the gorge.
The Fire Service, along with police and Civil Defence units, carried out the search. Four firemen, three search dogs with handlers, police officers, and a 12-person Civil Defence team equipped with a thermal camera drone participated. The teenager was located by firefighters at around 12:45 am.
The coordinated response ensured the boy's safe return without any injuries, highlighting the effectiveness of emergency services' collaboration in rescue operations in the area.
