August Rainfall in Republic-Controlled Areas Reaches 255% of Monthly Average

The Met Office announced on Thursday that average rainfall in Republic-controlled areas for August reached 498.5mm, which is 255% of the usual monthly average. Every measuring station reported rainfall exceeding their normal monthly averages, with some locations experiencing over ten times the expected amount.

The highest rainfall was recorded at Panayia bridge, reaching 1,593% of the monthly average, followed by Lythrodontas at 1,270%, Kornos at 1,108%, Larnaca airport at 800%, and Platania at 471%. Since October 1, average rainfall has totaled 585.7mm, representing 117% of the typical amount for this period.

All measuring stations have consistently recorded above-average rainfall since October, indicating a notably wetter season across these regions.
