Cyprus July 2026 Consumer Goods Prices Rise Amid Middle East Conflict Impact
The Consumer Protection Service has released its Basic Consumer Goods Price Observatory for July 2026, revealing continued price increases across Cyprus. Annual inflation stands at 2.9%, slightly down from June's 3.1%, with the rise largely driven by higher costs in petroleum products (up 12.2%) and agricultural produce (up 8.2%). The observatory tracks 250 essential items across 400 retail outlets island-wide, providing consumers with detailed pricing trends.
Of the 45 product categories monitored, 31 saw monthly price increases, including significant rises in fresh vegetables (up 32.4%) and frozen shellfish (up 12.3%). Conversely, 13 categories experienced declines, such as laundry detergent (down 5.2%) and gas cylinders (down 4.2%). Compared to July 2025, 39 categories recorded higher prices, indicating persistent inflation pressures.
The Consumer Protection Service emphasized that the price observatory is intended as a consumer information tool and cautioned that it cannot replace individual market research. They advised consumers to consider product quality and personal needs when making purchasing decisions amid ongoing market fluctuations.
