24th Pafos Aphrodite Festival to host Donizetti's L’Elisir d’Amore at Medieval Castle on Sept 4-5
The 24th Pafos Aphrodite Festival will take place on September 4 and 5 at the Square of the Medieval Castle of Paphos, featuring Gaetano Donizetti’s beloved opera L’Elisir d’Amore (The Elixir of Love). This classic comic opera, famous since its 1832 premiere for its humor, romance, and the iconic aria Una Furtiva Lagrima, will be staged anew by the Armenian National Academic Theatre of Opera and Ballet Alexander Spendiaryan, in collaboration with the Cyprus Symphony Orchestra.
The production reimagines the story within a symbolic post-apocalyptic world and assembles renowned soloists, musicians, and creative artists from Armenia and beyond. Set against the stunning backdrop of the Medieval Castle and the Mediterranean Sea, the performances promise a captivating blend of music, architecture, and nature.
