Two men detained over violent attacks on food delivery drivers in Paphos
The Paphos District Court has issued detention orders for two men arrested in connection with violent incidents targeting food delivery drivers in Mouttalos, central Paphos. A 22-year-old suspect was detained for seven days following his arrest, while a 35-year-old man was ordered held for eight days after being apprehended earlier. Police identified the suspects through video footage from the crime scenes.
The attacks began Tuesday night when a delivery driver was assaulted after refusing to pay for an order. The situation escalated as a group of up to ten men gathered and violently attacked multiple delivery drivers, damaging motorcycles and causing injuries to five drivers. Four attackers then ambushed a 22-year-old driver post-delivery, robbing him of money and a mobile phone.
All injured delivery drivers were treated at Paphos Hospital; four have been discharged while one remains hospitalized. Authorities are continuing investigations, with charges including robbery, assault causing bodily harm, riot, illegal weapon possession, common assault, and malicious damage.
