Aegean Airlines to release first half 2026 financial results on September 14
Aegean Airlines will publish its financial results for the first half of 2026 on September 14, following a challenging first quarter marked by higher revenue alongside a substantially wider loss. The Greek carrier reported a 5% rise in consolidated turnover to €320.7 million and a 4% increase in passenger traffic to 3.23 million during Q1, but its loss after tax increased sharply to €21.7 million from €6.6 million the previous year. This deterioration was largely attributed to negative foreign exchange valuations and increased fuel costs linked to geopolitical tensions in the Middle East.
The airline’s CEO, Dimitrios Gerogiannis, highlighted the burden of rising fuel prices due to the closure of the Strait of Hormuz and the ongoing conflict, affecting the aviation sector broadly. Despite these headwinds, Aegean experienced resilience in summer travel demand and continued fleet modernization, receiving two new A321neo aircraft in Q1 and expecting seven more by the end of September. ICAP CRIF Ratings affirmed Aegean’s strong credit standing with an AA rating in July, underscoring the airline’s robust financial foundation amid ongoing challenges.
