Man pleads guilty to manslaughter in fatal stabbing of father in Limassol
A 48-year-old man pleaded guilty to manslaughter for the stabbing death of his father, Giorgos Hadjigeorgiou, in Limassol on July 9, 2025. The attack resulted in nine knife wounds, six to the chest and three to the hand, with two wounds deemed fatal. The case is set for sentencing at the end of September.
The defendant had confessed to the killing on the day of the incident during an interview at Limassol CID. He claimed he attacked his father because he believed the elder man was a "freemason" with an "aura" that made him feel ill when near him. These claims were previously presented to the Criminal Court during earlier hearings.
The change of plea moves the court closer to resolving the case, pending a presentation of facts and sentencing later this year.
