Thousands attend Let’s Go Troodos 3 celebrating Cypriot mountain culture and traditions
Thousands gathered at the presidential residence of Troodos on Sunday for the third annual Let’s Go Troodos event, a celebration of local craftsmanship, products, and traditions from Cyprus' mountainous regions. Visitors toured the historic residence, originally built in 1879-1880 as the summer headquarters of the British High Commissioner, and now a symbol of Cypriot heritage.
The event featured hands-on workshops in traditional arts including weaving, cooking, mosaic making, and music, complemented by live folk performances. Officials emphasized the government's commitment to promoting rural areas, supporting local producers, and preserving cultural heritage. Deputy Tourism Minister Costas Koumis highlighted efforts to raise awareness of Cypriot flavors and crafts among younger generations.
First Lady Philippa Karsera Christodoulides underscored the initiative's goal to open emblematic buildings for cultural and educational purposes. The event also had a charitable aspect, with part of the proceeds donated to the Eleousa Nursing Home in Agros, reinforcing its community-focused spirit.
