Battery thrown from AEL stand injures 10-year-old girl at GSP Stadium during APOEL-AEL match

During Sunday's APOEL-AEL football match at GSP Stadium in Nicosia, a man threw a battery from the AEL stand, hitting a 10-year-old girl in the head as she watched the game with her father. The girl was treated with first aid at Nicosia General Hospital and later discharged. The suspect was arrested by police after the match concluded.

Earlier in the day, police intervened when APOEL fans marching toward the stadium threw objects at AEL supporters in the north car park, restoring order promptly. Additionally, a second man was arrested after being found with a flare at the stadium entrance. Two AEL fans who damaged metal security fencing were denied entry.

During the disturbances, a police anti-riot officer was injured by AEL fans and received first aid at Apollonio Hospital before being discharged. Authorities continue to monitor security measures to prevent further incidents.
