Cyprus and Bahrain expand maritime cooperation with new MoU signed in Manama
Cyprus and Bahrain have signed a new memorandum of understanding (MoU) on maritime cooperation to enhance collaboration in maritime safety, training, search and rescue, and innovation. The agreement was finalized during a bilateral meeting in Manama between Cyprus Shipping Deputy Minister Marina Hadjimanolis and Bahrain’s Minister of Transportation and Telecommunications, Sheikh Abdullah bin Ahmed Al Khalifa.
The MoU covers a broad range of maritime activities and includes plans to create joint working groups to implement specific areas of cooperation. This agreement follows a series of engagements earlier this year, including President Nikos Christodoulides’ visit to Bahrain in January when multiple cooperation agreements were signed.
The new partnership reflects Cyprus’ strategic effort to strengthen its maritime ties amid regional challenges, adding Bahrain to its expanding network of bilateral maritime agreements. Both countries aim to facilitate knowledge exchange and develop institutional and technical cooperation between their shipping sectors.
