Man arrested in Nicosia after fleeing police in stolen car carrying cannabis
A 42-year-old man was arrested in Nicosia after being found driving a stolen car and possessing a small quantity of cannabis. The incident occurred when officers from Ledra police station signaled the man to stop at around 5 p.m., but he attempted to flee, accelerating and later abandoning the vehicle to escape on foot before being apprehended.
The stolen car had been reported missing since August 27 in the Famagusta district, and its registration plates were also stolen from another vehicle. Police seized the cannabis found in the car during a search. The suspect remains in custody as investigations continue, with assistance from Omorfita police station, the Nicosia district Anti-Drugs Unit, and the Famagusta Criminal Investigation Department.
