EDEK members vote today to elect new party leader amid three-candidate race
Members of EDEK are voting today to elect a new party leader from three candidates: Sofia Christodoulou-Makri, Kyriakos Mavronikolas, and Giorgos Kouttoukis. To win outright, a candidate must obtain more than 50 percent of the votes cast. If no candidate reaches this threshold, a second round of voting will be held.
Voting is scheduled from 9:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and resumes from 2:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Approximately 8,000 EDEK members are eligible to vote, though turnout is estimated at around 2,000. Polling locations are available across Cyprus in Limassol, Paphos, Nicosia, Larnaca, Free Famagusta district, and Tillyria, with additional sites abroad in Athens and London.
