Sofia Christodoulou Makri elected new president of Edek with 53.5% of vote
Sofia Christodoulou Makri has been elected president of the Edek party, winning 53.5 per cent of the vote in Saturday's leadership election. She secured 1,191 votes out of 2,233 cast, with 2,225 ballots deemed valid across Cyprus.
Koullis Mavronikolas came in second, receiving 788 votes or 35.4%, while Giorgos Kouttoukis trailed with 246 votes, representing 11.1%. The party officially announced the results and extended warm congratulations to Christodoulou Makri.
The leadership election marks a new chapter for Edek, which will now be headed by its newly elected president amid member support demonstrated in the voting turnout.
