Defence Minister Vasilis Palmas urges new military students to serve with integrity and commitment
Defence Minister Vasilis Palmas emphasized the vital role of the National Guard amid ongoing Turkish occupation as he addressed new military students admitted to Greece’s academies. Speaking at a ceremony in Athalassa, Palmas congratulated the students and highlighted their responsibility to defend Cyprus’s freedom, independence, and territorial integrity.
Palmas urged the recruits to embrace values such as honour, duty, discipline, and integrity, warning that their training would be challenging but crucial for personal growth. He underscored that the strength of Cyprus’s armed forces depends not only on equipment but also on the character and commitment of its personnel.
The minister called on the students to become future leaders who inspire confidence and guide the National Guard with professionalism and determination. He also thanked the families of the recruits for their support and expressed confidence that the new officers would meet the expectations of the state and the Cypriot people.
