Greece Invests €40 Million in Advanced Defence Tech with Israeli Partnership, Creating 300 Jobs
Greece has announced a €40 million investment to transform ELVO’s Sindos industrial complex into a hub for producing and integrating advanced defence technologies. This initiative, under the ownership of Israel’s SK Group, marks a shift from the traditional production of military vehicles to manufacturing unmanned aerial systems, autonomous technologies, and drone countermeasures. The project is expected to create over 300 new jobs for engineers and skilled technicians, while strengthening the broader Greek defence supply network.
The new production capabilities will serve not only the Greek Armed Forces but also international markets across the Balkans and Southern Europe, positioning Greece as an exporter of advanced defence systems. This industrial advancement complements the recent €3.035 billion “Achilles Shield” agreement, under which Israel will implement a comprehensive multilayered defence network for Greece, integrating cutting-edge technologies through a unified command system.
These developments reflect the deepening strategic partnership between Greece and Israel, with Cyprus benefiting indirectly as part of the regional alliance. Greece’s emergence as a producer and exporter of defence technology reshapes the southern Balkans’ military landscape and underscores the growing trilateral cooperation in the Eastern Mediterranean.
