Cyprus’ Industrial Turnover Index rises 3.5% in June 2026, driven by manufacturing and mining sectors

Cyprus’ Industrial Turnover Index increased by 3.5% in June 2026, reaching 149.5 units, according to data from the Statistical Service (Cystat). The index also registered a 3.5% rise for the first half of the year compared to 2025, with manufacturing—the largest component—climbing 3.6% annually to 153.8 units. Significant growth was observed in wood and cork products, up 22.1% in June, alongside gains in textiles, metals, and non-metallic mineral products.

Outside manufacturing, mining and quarrying saw the most notable increase at 13.8% in June, with a 4% rise over the six-month period. Water supply and materials recovery also reported increases in June, as did electricity supply, though more modestly. Meanwhile, the local market index jumped 4.3% in June, contrasting with a 0.9% decline in the export market index for the same month, reflecting mixed external demand trends.

Some manufacturing sectors experienced downturns, with rubber and plastic products falling by 4.8% in June, despite a slight gain over six months. Declines were also recorded in furniture manufacturing, paper products, and refined petroleum and chemical products. Overall, Cyprus' industrial sector shows steady growth but faces challenges in certain export-driven categories.
