Limassol police arrest two after van chase involving collisions and warning shots fired
Police in Limassol arrested two individuals following a high-speed van chase that ended with the vehicle crashing into two parked cars. The chase began after a Cycling Police officer attempted to stop the van for a routine check on Athinon Street, but the driver refused and sped towards the Ypsonas Industrial Area. Backup was called as the driver continued to evade police, reportedly with occupants throwing objects at patrol cars.
During the pursuit, officers fired warning shots aimed at the van's tyres and into the air to halt the vehicle. The chase concluded at the Eleftherios traffic lights in Kato Polemidia where the van was intercepted. A 20-year-old man with a previous similar incident and a 19-year-old passenger were arrested. Police are currently investigating the exact charges and circumstances surrounding the event.
