President Christodoulides and Patients' Federation Osak Align on Health Care Reforms
President Nikos Christodoulides stated that the government's health priorities are aligned with those of the patients’ association federation, Osak, during a meeting at the presidential palace. He highlighted the partnership between the government and Osak, describing the federation as one of Cyprus's most successful non-governmental organizations in advocating for patient rights.
Christodoulides emphasized that health and education policies are viewed as long-term investments, not merely financial issues. He noted that many proposals submitted by Osak prior to his election have already been implemented, including the creation of the patient ombudsman.
The president and Osak's executive committee discussed pending legislation and reforms such as improvements to the general health service (Gesy), public hospitals, and patient rights. The government is also advancing initiatives like establishing a national cancer institute, enhancing palliative care, rehabilitation clinics, and the national ambulance agency.
