Labour Ministry Launches Nationwide Inspections to Combat Illegal Employment in Industrial Sector
The Cyprus Labour Ministry announced on Thursday that it will conduct nationwide inspections throughout September to address illegal employment in the industrial sector. The campaign aims to raise awareness about undeclared work and ensure adherence to employment regulations, including minimum wage, working hours, and days off.
Employers found to have undeclared workers face administrative fines starting at €1,000 per employee for the month the offence is detected. Repeat offences within two years see fines increase to €2,000, and a third offence costs €3,000. Fines will be multiplied based on the duration of non-compliance.
The ministry also highlighted that the Cyprus-wide helpline 77778577 is available for anonymous or named complaints regarding undeclared employment or violations of job contracts.
