Suspect steals and damages OTERO payment machine in Limassol kiosk break-in
A break-in at a Limassol kiosk early Thursday morning has prompted a police alert after a suspect was caught on camera stealing and damaging an OTERO payment machine. The incident occurred between 5am and 5:30am at a kiosk located at the corner of Misiaouli and Kavazoglou Streets. Authorities report the suspect used an angle grinder to force entry before taking the payment terminal, used for mobile phone transactions, and smashing it open to access cash inside.
This is the second similar case reported in Limassol in recent days, and police are investigating whether the same individual is responsible. The suspect reportedly has a tattoo on his left arm and may have parked a vehicle behind the kiosk. Surveillance footage is being reviewed to identify the suspect and track his movements before and after the break-in.
Police have urged other kiosk and shop owners with similar machines to remain vigilant, as attempts to steal these devices appear to be increasing in the area.
