Cyprus Tourism Shows Resilience in H1 2026 Despite Regional Challenges
Cyprus tourism demonstrated strong resilience and momentum in the first half of 2026, overcoming disruptions from Middle East developments and air transport turbulence in March and April. According to government spokesman Konstantinos Letymbiotis, tourist arrivals during this period slightly surpassed those of 2024, previously the best year for Cypriot tourism, while tourism revenue increased by 7.5 percent.
From May onwards, the tourism sector steadily improved, narrowing the gap with the record-breaking 2025 figures. In June, arrivals reached nearly 490,000, just 1.7 percent below June 2025, with revenue slightly higher at €423.1 million. Letymbiotis attributed this performance to the quality of Cyprus' tourism offering, collaboration between public and private sectors, and strategies aimed at expanding markets and enhancing air connectivity.
The government remains optimistic about maintaining strong tourism levels through the remainder of 2026, emphasizing the sector's robust foundations and ability to generate significant economic impact despite earlier challenges.
