Mountain Games Cyprus 2026 will take place from September 23 to 26, bringing together sport, science, culture, and gastronomy across villages, squares, trails, and cultural venues in the Troodos mountain range. Funded by the European Union through the Erasmus+ Sport programme, the event aligns with the European Week of Sport and the #BeActive movement, focusing on healthy lifestyles for all.
Delegations from over ten European countries will participate in activities promoting movement, health, and mountain life. The event begins with a scientific discussion in Platres on physical activity and public health, followed by sports activities and traditional games for hundreds of Cypriot students, including provisions for children with visual impairments. Outdoor events such as hikes, orienteering, cycling, and a children's football tournament will also be held throughout the region.
Mountain Games Cyprus 2026 also celebrates cultural exchange with traditional dance, music, and workshops, culminating in a dance gathering uniting European traditions. Omodos village will host Taste, Move & Thrive, a market featuring mountain products, food workshops, and family activities. The event closes once again in Platres with discussions on the future of exercise, nutrition, and mental wellbeing, emphasizing the connection between active living, inclusion, and environmental care.
