ETAP Limassol launches AI-powered 3D digital reconstructions at Kourion archaeological site
The Limassol Tourism Development and Promotion Company (ETAP Limassol), supported by the Deputy Ministry of Tourism, is developing new digital products for the Kourion archaeological site using three-dimensional reconstructions and artificial intelligence. These innovations aim to offer visitors a vivid experience by showing not only the current ruins but also how the site appeared during its peak.
The digital reconstructions will cover both prominent and lesser-known monuments, restoring their architectural forms and recreating scenes of a vibrant ancient urban center. Notably, AI-generated depictions of athletic games are planned for the ancient stadium dating back to the 2nd century AD, bringing historical activities to life.
This initiative shifts the traditional archaeological visit into a digital storytelling experience, serving as a virtual window to Kourion's past. It is part of ETAP Limassol’s broader strategy to enhance the region’s tourism offering, promote Kourion internationally, and attract new visitors.
