10-Year-Old Pianist Lev Nekhin Achieves ARSM Distinction in Cyprus
Lev Nekhin, a 10-year-old pianist originally from Moscow, has achieved a Distinction in the Associate of the Royal Schools of Music (ARSM) diploma after an impressive musical journey in Cyprus. Having started playing piano during the Covid-19 pandemic using online tutorials, Lev rapidly progressed through the ABRSM grades 1 to 8 within three years at the Tatiana Stupak Music School in Limassol.
In June 2026, Lev performed a challenging 30-minute programme from memory, including pieces by Bach, Beethoven, Debussy, and Chopin, earning him the prestigious ARSM title. His achievements have been further backed by winning first place in the Island of Stars competition in Cyprus and scoring 98 out of 100 in the MusicArte 2026 competition.
Beyond music, Lev pursues interests in mathematics and languages and has already traveled to 24 countries. With aspirations to become a professional concert pianist, he looks forward to advancing through higher ABRSM diploma levels in the future.
