Fire in Strovolos causes smoke over Strovolos and Latsia areas
On Tuesday morning, a fire broke out in a large pile of tree cuttings, trunks, and grass waste in an open area near the former Orphanides supermarket building in Strovolos. The blaze caused smoke to spread across the Strovolos and Latsia areas, driven by wind direction.
The fire service responded promptly with two fire engines to secure the area. One fire engine remains on site as a precaution while waiting for an excavator provided by the Strovolos municipality. The excavator will cover the burning material with soil to fully extinguish the fire.
Fire service spokesman Andreas Kettis confirmed that the situation is under control, and no injuries have been reported. Authorities continue to monitor the site to prevent any further incidents.
