Poly Gregora appointed Cyprus's first mental health ambassador to promote awareness and reduce stigma

Poly Gregora has been appointed as the Republic of Cyprus's first mental health ambassador for a two-year term, announced by Health Minister Neophytos Charalambides. The appointment aims to strengthen the voice of society in public debates related to mental health and to highlight the experiences of those affected by mental health issues.

Gregora, an expert and advocate with extensive experience in the field, has contributed to drafting the national health strategy for mental health from 2025 to 2028. The ministry emphasized the importance of fostering a society where mental health can be openly discussed without fear or prejudice, and where seeking help is seen as a sign of strength.

The role will focus on raising awareness, promoting mental wellbeing, and combating stigma to build a more understanding and supportive community. The Health Ministry underscored that mental health is essential to overall health and quality of life, making it a key priority for government initiatives.
