Seven arrests across Cyprus during police patrols targeting crime and traffic violations
The Cyprus Police conducted extensive patrols across urban areas nationwide last night, resulting in seven arrests for various offenses including identity fraud, public disorder, and assault on an officer. The operations aimed to prevent serious crimes, maintain public order, and enhance community safety.
During the night, law enforcement stopped and checked 504 drivers and 194 passengers, conducted 41 inspections at premises, and issued 11 complaints related to public order offenses. Traffic checks led to 297 citations, primarily for speeding with 151 recorded cases, and the confiscation of 13 vehicles.
Alcohol and drug tests were performed, resulting in eight citations for drunk driving and two investigations into driving under the influence of narcotics. Police emphasized that these preventive and suppression activities will continue daily to protect citizens and ensure public security.
