Iosif Kesidis wins hammer throw gold as Cyprus shines at Mediterranean Games
Iosif Kesidis secured the gold medal in the hammer throw at the Mediterranean Games in Taranto with a winning throw of 77.99 metres on his third attempt. His victory marked the fourth gold for the Cyprus Olympic Committee delegation, highlighting a strong start to Cyprus' athletics campaign. Greece’s Frantzeskakis and Croatia’s Matija Gregoric took silver and bronze respectively.
In athletics, Milan Trajkovic advanced to the 110m hurdles final after posting the fastest qualifying time of 13.65 seconds, while Daphne Georgiou did not progress in the 100m hurdles. Cyprus also celebrated its first-ever table tennis medal at the Games as Lefteris Neos and Melios Efstathiou claimed bronze in the men's doubles, overcoming Malta in a three-set match.
