Cyprus Tourism Revenue Rises Slightly in June 2026 Despite Fewer Arrivals

Cyprus recorded a 0.2% increase in tourism revenue in June 2026, reaching €423.1 million, despite a 1.7% decline in tourist arrivals to 489,965 compared to the same month in 2025. The rise in revenue was driven by higher spending per visitor, with average expenditure increasing by 2% to €863.62. The average daily spending also rose to €105.32, although the average stay shortened slightly to 8.2 days.

Visitors from the United Kingdom remained the largest market, accounting for 33% of arrivals, although British tourist numbers fell to 161,913. However, UK visitors stayed longer and spent more, with average expenditure per British tourist rising to €1,081.44. Israel was the second-largest source market, with arrivals more than doubling to 80,343, and recorded the highest daily spend among major markets at €174.27.

Despite June's slight revenue growth, the overall performance in the first half of 2026 remains weak, with total tourism revenue of €1.22 billion down 11.4% from the same period in 2025. Several European markets, including Germany, France, and Poland, saw declines in arrivals and spending, contributing to the challenges faced by Cyprus' tourism sector this year.
