Famagusta District partners with KIOS to enhance water supply network efficiency and sustainability
The Famagusta District Local Government Organisation (EOA) has entered into a cooperation agreement with the KIOS Research and Innovation Centre of Excellence to improve the district's water supply network. The nine-month project, funded with €76,000, focuses on developing hydraulic models, a monitoring and reporting system, and smart technologies to boost the network's operation and water resource management.
The initiative involves analyzing existing data, validating hydraulic models for selected areas, assessing suitable locations for pressure reducing valves, and supporting infrastructure planning. EOA President Yiannis Karousos highlighted the importance of using technology and scientific analysis for smarter water management to benefit both consumers and the environment.
KIOS Director Christos Panayiotou emphasized that the partnership will leverage expertise from similar projects to enhance efficiency and sustainability in managing the water supply network in Famagusta district, ultimately benefiting local communities through improved resource management.
